Dany Silva is one of the legends of Cape Verdean
music. Born in Cape Verde, he has lived in Lisbon, Portugal since his late
teens. His distinctive baritone/tenor voice has graced several hit songs
since the 1980s, including
Branco Velho, Tinto e Geropiga,
Criola
de San Bento,
Bernardo,
Caminho de San Tome, and
Mama Africa.
Dany performs regularly in Lisbon at venues like the
Casa de Morna with
artists like
Tito Paris,
Rui Veloso,
and Marisa, and on tours throughout the Portuguese–speaking world. Working
with American producer
Barry Marshall,
he will be releasing two albums in the next year: a collection of new original
songs called
Caminho Longi, and an album of new
recordings of his greatest hits.
